BYU Football is close to kicking off the season, and we are taking a look at what it all could look like.

BYU Football is almost here. We are just 16 days away, and fall camp has begun. BYU has a good schedule this year and is looking better. The quarterback situation remains uncertain, but everything else is falling into place. BYU’s defense looks strong, and the return of Will Ferrin is a significant boost for the offense. While the Cougars have lost some players to the Transfer Portal, the key players are still here, and BYU is ready to go.
BYU has a pretty loaded schedule this year, with a straightforward nonconference schedule before playing a strong conference slate. BYU’s biggest games are at Iowa State, home against Utah, and at Texas Tech. BYU can win these three games, but they won’t be easy. BYU needs to keep their heads up and stay focused. No game is a given in College Football, and the Cougs will need to be smart.
Last year, BYU went 11-2 and beat Utah in SLC for the first time since 2009. BYU exceeded expectations and won the Valero Alamo Bowl against Colorado. BYU was expected to win only 4.5 games, but won 11. This year, they are out of the AP Top 25 preseason rankings. BYU, like last season, will be looking to exceed expectations and prove people wrong.

BYU has a big question mark at quarterback, and this is a big decision. Some believe that Bear Bachmier is going to be the day one starter. The quarterback is one of the biggest positions on the field, and BYU must get this right. Quarterbacks, of course, are only as good as their protection is, and it will be important for BYU to work hard with the offensive line.
BYU Special Teams is looking good as well. Redshirt senior kicker Will Ferrin is returning, and he will have a lot of work to do to keep himself going after last year’s strong performance. I believe that he can follow up last year with a bigger year in 2025. Also, the return of redshirt junior punter Sam Vander Harr and receiver/returnman Parker Kingston is key to BYU’s success this year.
BYU has a long season ahead of them. There are some simple games and some rougher games. As mentioned before, no game in College Football is a guaranteed win. BYU will have to fight for every single yard, and even if the game looks easy on paper, it’s never that simple. BYU has yet another chance to prove people wrong, and this could be a big year. We have about a week and a half until the season starts, and BYU is ready.
