BYU’s LJ Martin had a good year in 2024 and is looking like he could have another big year.

BYU Football is back this week. There are plenty of players who contribute to the success of the team, but some do stand out. We will be starting this series to spotlight the players who make the biggest impacts. This week, we are looking at running back LJ Martin.
LJ Martin broke onto the scene in his freshman year in 2023. Injuries to players ahead of him gave him an opportunity. He came in and immediately impressed both Head Coach Kalani Sitake and Offensive Coordinator Aaron Roderick. He was the starter from that point on.
However, he injured himself in his Sophomore year, and Sione I Moa took over. A shoulder injury in Spring Camp and a high ankle sprain in Week 1 against Southern Illinois sidelined him for a few weeks. Martin returned to where he left off against Arizona, rushing for 49 yards and a touchdown. Martin would only go up from there, and he would have a breakout game against Colorado in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

LJ Martin is from Texas. He won several awards in high school, including the 2021 5A MVP. His father played football at Western New Mexico, and his mother played softball at the same school. Sports run in the family, and it shows on the gridiron. LJ is tough, gritty, and hard to bring down. Martin works hard and doesn’t give up easily.
LJ Martin is studying biomechanics at BYU. He has been a success on the field, and Kalani Sitake has a tough decision on who starts Week 1. BYU is known for good offensive play, and Martin definitely contributes to that. It will be exciting to see where it all goes. BYU Football is now four days away, and everyone, including LJ, is excited.
I am so impressed with all the details you share. It gets me excited for the games! Thanks!
Thanks! We work hard to bring the best to the fans.
