BYU faces Colorado on the road to start Big 12 play. Let’s get to know the foe.

BYU Football is ready for Big 12 play, and they will open against the Colorado Buffaloes. Colorado and BYU met in the 2024 Valero Alamo Bowl, and the Cougars won 36-14. Colorado leads the overall series 8-4-1. BYU has won three straight meetings dating back to a 1981 rout, with a final score of 41-20. Colorado is ready to play BYU and end the streak.
BYU opponent information: Colorado Buffaloes
The University of Colorado is located in Boulder, Colorado. Their mascot is the Buffaloes, and they play at Folsom Field. Colorado is coached by Dieon Sanders, and their quarterback is Kaiden Salter. Colorado is 2-2 this year, having beaten Delaware and Wyoming but lost to Georgia Tech and Houston. The Buffaloes have a point differential of +18 points and are outscoring opponents 108 to 90.
Last year, Colorado finished the season tied for first place in the Big 12 and ranked 25th in the AP Poll. Colorado finished with a 9-4 record and a 7-2 record in Big 12 play. Colorado has experienced some turnover, as quarterback Shedeur Sanders, two-way player Travis Hunter, safety Shilo Sanders, and others have all gone on to the NFL. Colorado is figuring some things out, but it looks hopeful.

Of course, it is worth noting that Deion Sanders does not have revenge on his mind. He spoke with reporters and talked about how this is a new team and how they just want to focus on this game and not use last year’s Bowl Game as fuel. Deion Sanders said:
“We ain’t with that get-back stuff, I ain’t with that get-back stuff. I’m with that let’s-get-them stuff. They played their butts off, kicked our butts in the bowl game. Now we have a whole new team.”
Sanders also spoke highly of Kalani Sitake, calling him a dear friend. The competition, at least between coaches, seems to be friendly. BYU and Colorado have played some heated games throughout the years, and this one could be another great game. BYU will have victory on its mind as it tries to keep the undefeated season alive. This will probably be a close game, and BYU needs to be ready for anything. The Big 12 is back, and it will be fun.
