BYU’s Bear Bachmeier has been a great player and has led BYU to their second straight 4-0 start.

BYU Football is 4-0, for the second straight season. The Cougars have been strong, with a strong defense, and of course, an efficient offense led by true freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier. Bachmeier has accounted for ten BYU touchdowns, all while not turning the ball over once. Bear has even earned himself a saying: Bear Witness. Cougar Nation loves him, and rightfully so. A beast of a player on the field, Bachmeier has become a favorite, not just for his talent, but his kind soul.
Bear Bachmeier played his spring ball at Stanford University. He and his brother, Tiger, transferred to BYU during the summer, and Bachmeier fought hard in fall camp, ultimately competing against McCae Hillstead for the starting quarterback job. Both Bachmeier and Hillstead were mature and professional, and Bear eventually won out. Since then, Bear has not disappointed, even becoming the first BYU Freshman quarterback to account for five touchdowns in one game.
Bear had played more than football in high school, lettering in baseball and basketball as well. Bear played high school sports at Murrieta Valley High School in Murrieta, California. He was a four-star recruit coming out of high school by ESPN, and had a rating as high as the eleventh quarterback recruit in the country. Bear has made his mark on the College Football landscape, and several big names in sports reporting have given him praise.

Bear this year has completed 69.8% of his passes for 697 yards and six passing touchdowns. Add in four rushing touchdowns, and this looks like the best true freshman starting quarterback for BYU. Bear is an elite quarterback and has exceeded expectations. ESPN’s Mark Jones had this to say about Bear Bachmeier:
“I’m really impressed with the poise of this true freshman, Bear Bachmeier.
BYU has found a real gem at quarterback. Bear Bachmeier is really looking better every game. With a passing touchdown-to-interception ratio of 6-0, Bear has been both efficient and smart. Bear is going to be a star, and he can only get better from here.
Bear Witness, Cougar Nation. Bachmeier is him.
