BYU has seen wonders from Will Ferrin, but recently, he has struggled.

It’s that time of year again, BYU fans. The Holy War is in town, and BYU will be hosting the Utes in Lavell Edwards Stadium. The hero of last year was no other than Will Ferrin, hitting a game-winning field goal in Salt Lake City. BYU will need to lean on its star kicker again, with the offense struggling to score in the red zone. BYU has a strong special teams core this year, and Ferrin can put on a show for the Cougar fans.
Rivalry aside, Will Ferrin is a great kicker. He has hit a slump, but he’ll figure it out. BYU has found a legend in Ferrin, who sadly will be gone at the end of the season. He is a redshirt senior and has hit a lot of key field goals, most recently at Arizona, to force a second overtime. Ferrin is 12-15 this year on field goals, perfect on extra points, and has tied a school record for the longest field goal made: 56 yards against Portland State.

Ferrin was raised in Kaysville, Utah, and attended Davis High School. He transferred to BYU after his redshirt freshman year at Boise State. At Davis High School, he was 13-17 on field goals and was perfect on extra points. Ferrin is studying Business Management, and his wife, Courtney, teaches fifth grade at Maple Ridge Elementary. Ferrin enjoys being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
Ferrin is a great kicker. He had a school record of 24 consecutive field goals made, and every kick was crucial. Will is a staple of this era of BYU Football and has always delivered when it mattered most. With a BYU career field goal make percentage of 83.9%, Ferrin has been incredible. He doesn’t look like he is rattled by the big moments and has delivered time and time again. Ferrin will be key to this team’s success and must stay hot. BYU found a gem, and it was well worth the effort.
