BYU scored 17 points on four Iowa State turnovers and came from behind to beat Iowa State in Ames.

BYU Football has done it again. The Cougars came from behind and beat the Iowa State Cyclones for the first time. Four turnovers led to 17 BYU points, and that ended up being the difference in the game. BYU started slow, but after a Logan Lutui interception turned the game on its head. BYU got its go-ahead and game-sealing touchdowns off turnovers. BYU capitalized on Iowa State errors and never gave up.
Iowa State started the game on fire with a 75-yard touchdown pass for a touchdown. BYU responded with a touchdown, and Iowa State would kick a field goal on its next drive before BYU punted. Iowa State would score again, and the first quarter would end 17-7 in favor of the Cyclones. BYU would punt at the start of the second quarter, and Iowa State would put together a great drive.
But it wasn’t as good as it seemed, as BYU would get in a throwing lane and intercept a Rocco Becht pass. BYU would drive down the field, and after a few penalties, BYU was forced to settle for a field goal. BYU then gave up a touchdown, but BYU scored a touchdown of their own. The first half would end 24-17 Iowa State. BYU would get the ball back in the second half, with the chance to tie the game.

Penalties would haunt BYU once again, as the Cougars were forced to kick another field goal. The Cougars would then force the Cyclones to punt, and BYU would score a touchdown to take the lead. Iowa State would tie it with a field goal, and BYU would end the third quarter with a fumble recovery after an Iowa State player kicked the ball during a punt fielding, making it a live ball.
BYU would capitalize on the turnover and put seven more points on the board. BYU would then pressure Becht, forcing him to get rid of the ball. Faletau Satuala would take a pass out of the hands of a Cyclone reciever, and return it for a touchdown. BYU doubled the lead, and it looked impossible for Iowa State. Iowa State turned the ball over on downs, and after BYU punted, Iowa State looked like they were going to cut the lead in half, but BYU’s Evan Johnson intercepted a Becht pass to seal the deal.
BYU has a lot of positives to take away from this game, and some things to work on. BYU overall had a great second half, and the comeback was beautiful. The Cougars need to be able to start the game as good as they finish it, especially with the schedule they have remaining. BYU deserves this win, and they will be ready to go against Texas Tech next week.
