Utah Royals FC saw the departure of a few key pieces, but is there a chance they could still have a good year?

Utah Royals FC are back for year three in Utah, and they are looking a bit different this year. With the departure of stars like Ally Setnor and Bianca St Georges, the Royals have lost some scoring power. Ally Setnor was transferred to the Kansas City Current, and Bianca St Georges was transferred to Boston Legacy FC. Utah Royals FC Version Two is still in its infancy, and there is a lot of growth still to be had.
The Royals are of course, a good team. But as with any expansion team, there are growing pains. This is to be expected. Still, the decisions with some of the players are interesting, and URFC may have just lost some firepower. Bu there is still a good thing, both Mia Justus and Mandy Mandy McGlynn look like they are here to stay. The roster won’t be finalized until March 12th, and that will be covered when it happens.

Other notable departures included Lauren Flynn, Mariana Cabral, Aisha Solórzano, and Madison Pogarch, among others. The Royals are looking to become relevant, and sometimes the hard decisions have to be made. But the club leadership has an idea of what they want to do. I do think, given a year or two more, and some patience, the Royals could become a playoff team. It’s like RSL when they were first starting. They weren’t great, but through trial and error, they got better. The Royals need to have the same mindset.
Utah is a developing team. Patience and optimism are key at this stage. As some players have left, others have come in and are ready to contribute. Utah Royals FC is still growing, and the fans should support them through it all. UFRC can be a good competitor, and it will take a year or two to become playoff ready. But this is a good team, and there is hope. For now, fans should Believe, just like with RSL. It’s going to be a fun season, and everyone is fired up.
Come on you Royals!
