Real Salt Lake looks to bounce back from a rough road trip to Dallas with a win against the Houston Dynamo.
Real Salt Lake had a rough go on Saturday. They conceded two goals in eight minutes. But this is a new week, and RSL can absolutely bounce back. Houston has been up and down, and interestingly enough, only them and Montreal haven’t drawn a match in 2026. Of course, I don’t want a draw, I want a win. But what I am saying is Houston either wins, or implodes. Unfortunately, draws are possible. But RSL has a solid chance this match, especially at home, where they have only lost one match.
Houston has a 6-0-5 record in 2026, and is hot and cold. RSL can pounce early, and with the home crowd and elevation, RSL has a huge advantage. RSL should wear down Houston and dominate in attack with their successful press, and keep Houston pinned in their end, wearing them out, and causing heavy legs later in crunch time. RSL has proven that America First Field is a fortress, and winning is just what we do there.
Houston is coming off of a big 4-1 against Los Angeles FC. This is quite an impressive win, but Houston is not ready for Gozo, Luna, Speirings, and Solans. RSL has a potent attack ,especially in the first half. RSL would be wise to score early and often to put Houston out of it early. RSL only has a few matches to go until the World Cup Break, and this team should really take advantage of this time.
Keys to the Match for Real Salt Lake
- Get aggressive early: Real Salt Lake is known for fast starts at home. If they can jump on Houston early, they can punish them and make it harder for them in the thin Utah air.
- Take your chances: Real Salt Lake has generated a lot of chances, but sometimes there is hesitation about pulling the trigger. So RSL needs to be smart and find the best shot, but also pull the trigger when the opportunity arises. RSL cannot afford to let chances go to waste because of hesitation.
- Let the kids eat: Sergi Solans and Zavier Gozo have been incredible. The young duo has created several chances, and they don’t look like stopping soon. Feed them and Diego Luna, and they will reward you.
Overall, the odds are in RSL’s favor. A home match, at altitude, with our electric attack and suffocating press, is the recipe for RSL’s success. If this team fights hard, wins the second ball, scores early, and keeps the foot on the gas, they will have a good three points in hand.
