After an up-and-down year, can Real Salt Lake get the job done in 2025?

Real Salt Lake is officially back in business with its 2025 season set. RSL released their 2025 schedule with a road game in San Jose to start the season. RSL gets its first taste of San Diego FC on March 8th with a home game against the 2025 expansion side. RSL will travel to Saint Louis City on October 18th to finish the regular season.
Last season the Claret and Cobalt lost their first two games to Miami and Colorado before going on a club-record 15-match unbeaten streak which included a big win against LAFC in the game that is now known as “Snowpocalypse” and a dramatic come-from-behind draw in Dallas. However, after a hard loss in the US Open Cup to New Mexico United, they hit a rough patch, losing leads and struggling against teams they should have beaten.
RSL had some memorable moments this season with long-range goals and incredible comebacks. One such memory was Chicho Arango’s midfield goal en route to a 5-1 win over Austin FC in Sandy. Anderson Julio had a similar goal against FC Dallas. Vera and Palacio also had some long-range goals.
What is there to look forward to in 2025?
Real Salt Lake has plenty to look forward to in 2025. Their first trip to Charlotte, a visit from expansion side San Diego FC and the Rocky Mountain Cup.
The Claret and Cobalt were dominant in their first meeting with Charlotte FC, beating the North Carolina side 3-1 in Sandy. Pablo Ruiz, Anderson Julio, and Jefferson Savarino scored for RSL while Karol Swiderski scored the only goal for the Crown. RSL should expect a tougher game in Charlotte with the energetic home crowd and artificial turf.
RSL will see San Diego FC play in Sandy for the first time. RSL is good at attack and if they can expose a San Diego side that is still figuring out how to play together, they could be in for a good game. RSL has a leaky defense however, and they will have to tighten it up.
Real Salt Lake botched the Rocky Mountain Cup last season and cannot let it get away from them again. Colorado has got some real talent in the attack and RSL has to be ready for it. If RSL can fix their defensive issues and start finishing more chances, then they can win back the Rocky Mountain Cup.
Overall, it should be a great season for RSL. The new additions seem to be able to fit the style of play and the coaching staff is working hard to get RSL ready for this next year. Real Salt Lake can only go up from here and the future is bright.
