Diego Luna has shown that he is a quality player and could continue to develop here in Utah.

Diego Luna is a beast. He can score, assist, and defend. He had a big assist in a recent United States National Team game. Luna is still young and has a lot of potential. In 2024 Luna had 8 goals and 8 assists. “Moon Man,” as he is called by MLS Season Pass Commentator Brian Dunseth, is a strong presence in the midfield and can make plays happen.
Luna started his RSL career in 2022. He was transferred from El Paso Locomotive and in his first season, he didn’t contribute much but in year two he scored five goals and assisted three more. 2024 was his best year with 8 goals and 12 assists. Luna has an eye for goal, and could be a big piece of RSL’s success moving forward.
Luna scored a brace against the LA Galaxy. He was in the right place at the right time again and again. Luna has a knack for goals and contributes in other ways, pulling defenders out of position and setting up his teammates for goals of their own. In a USMNT match, Luna broke his nose but begged to go back in, drawing high praise from the coaching staff.

Diego Luna has proven he can make things happen. He is good in attack, especially in transition. He has been key to RSL’s counterattack, with key passes and near-perfect positioning. Luna is unpredictable and opponents can’t stop him and he has a knack for being in goalscoring positions.
With the departures of Chicho Arango, Anderson Julio, and Matt Crooks, RSL is Luna’s team. He has been expected to step up and lead the attack. Diego has been a good fit for this role. He is playing more of an attacking midfielder role and so far has been excellent.
Luna has been a good addition to this team. He is looking like he will have another big year, and the sky is the limit. This year has been an adjustment for Moon Man but he is up to the challenge. Luna has potential, and this year will be a true test.
